You Are Not Alone (Y.A.N.A.) Program

In an effort to reach out to senior citizens in Calaveras County Sheriff Rick DiBasilio has introduced the Y.A.N.A. program.

Does someone you know live alone? Would you like phone calls and safety visits from the Calaveras Sheriff Volunteer Unit?

This program is designed to promote peace of mind and a sense of security for Calaveras County residents who primarily are elderly or disabled and live alone. It is for people who enjoy the independence of living alone but have no friends or family members available to check in on them with any consistency. Their only contact may be through the phone calls and personal visits of the volunteers. Enrollees in the YANA program are generally able to take care of their own day-to-day needs.

Please note we do not provide medical assistance, drive the participant to doctor visits, pick up or deliver groceries, or meals, etc. Our goal is to provide a measure of security with our calls and visits. Volunteers will make periodic in-home visits and identify any needs for special services and provide referrals to other agencies if needed.

Participants must provide authorization by submitting the YANA application form and scheduling a meeting before we can begin our calls and visits.
