The Explosive Ordinance Disposal Unit (EOD) is a tactical team that responds to explosives incidents, including found explosives, improvised explosive devices (IED), and post-blast investigations. The Unit also conducts first responder explosives recognition training.
The Calaveras County Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit is staffed with several hazardous devices/bomb technicians. All bomb technicians are also hazardous materials specialists and function on the Hazardous Materials Team. Staff training and certification are provided through the FBI Hazardous Devices School, U.S. Army, Redstone Arsenal, Huntsville, Alabama.
