The Calaveras Narcotics Enforcement Unit (CNEU) has been in existence for over 20 years. The Unit is comprised of members of the Sheriff’s Office with Calaveras Works and Human Services as well as the District Attorney’s Office as partners.
Funded by both State and Federal grants, the unit exists primarily by the receipt of grants targeted at reducing Narcotics.
Deputies who are assigned to CNEU work closely with Patrol and Detectives, as well as with neighboring agencies and Federal authorities. Narcotics investigations require investigation at all hours of the day or night, and the unit operates with a very flexible schedule.
The emphasis of the unit is to hold those who manufacturer, or sell illicit substances accountable, while placing an equal emphasis of protecting and rescuing children who are subjected to a Drug Endangered environment.
