The Calaveras Narcotics Enforcement Unit (CNEU) has existed for over twenty years. It is comprised of members of the Sheriff’s Office, with Calaveras Works and Human Services and the District Attorney’s Office as partners.
Funded by both State and Federal grants, the unit exists primarily by receiving grants targeted at reducing Narcotics.
Deputies who are assigned to CNEU work closely with Patrol and Detectives, as well as with neighboring agencies and Federal authorities. Narcotics investigations require investigation at all hours of the day or night, and the unit operates with a flexible schedule.
The emphasis of the unit is to hold those who manufacture or sell illicit substances accountable while placing an equal emphasis on protecting and rescuing children who are subjected to a Drug Endangered environment.
