Michael Fogelstrom Homicide, July 16, 2010

In the early morning hours of July 16th, 2010, three suspects, two males and one female, entered a residence and assaulted the three occupants while robbing them at gunpoint. Victim Michael Fogelstrom (age 61 at the time) was critically injured and taken to a nearby hospital where he received medical treatment. Mr. Fogelstrom ultimately succumbed to injuries sustained during the assault and died later that day. The other two victims suffered minor injuries.

Although several leads were developed during the investigation, evidence and leads were not sufficient to arrest and charge the perpetrator(s) of the murder.

Mark Dantche Missing, June 2, 2015

Missing Person: Mark Norman Dantche
Age: 51 (Age 45 at disappearance) 
Sex: Male
Hair: Gray
Eyes: Brown
Height: 5’ 8”
Weight: 190 (at time of disappearance)

Mark Dantche was reported missing on June 2, 2015. Dantche was last known to be driving a blue, 1996 Subaru Wagon with a yellow kayak on top, California license plate number 4YMF103. Dantche was last known to be in the Railroad Flat area.

It was believed that Dantche had planned to go fishing in the West Point/Wilseyville area prior to his disappearance. Cell phone records indicated that the phone may have been last used between the areas of Murphys and Sheep Ranch.

Extensive searches were conducted and no traces of Dantche or his vehicle have ever been found.

Roy Dixon Homicide, October 13, 1997

On October 14th, 1997, the murdered body of Roy Dixon was discovered near his burnt Jeep Cherokee on Winton Road in West Point. Dixon was a resident of Modesto and was known to frequent the West Point area while deer hunting. It was evident that the Jeep had been set on fire intentionally and that Dixon’s death was a homicide.

Although several leads were developed during the investigation, evidence and leads were not sufficient to arrest and charge the perpetrator(s) of the murder.

Sharalyn Murphy Homicide, December 13th, 1994

On December 13th, 1994, partial remains of a female were discovered in a remote area off of Camp Nine Road in Vallecito. Other partial remains, from the same female, were found in Tuolumne County. The identity of the victim was determined to be 24-year old Sharalyn Murphy of Sacramento. Murphy had disappeared from Sacramento in the autumn of that year. The investigation into the homicide was inconclusive.

Unidentified Female Remains Found in the Stanislaus River On October 9th, 2015

On October 9th, 2015, partial remains of a female were found in the Stanislaus River near the Parrots Ferry Bridge. Evidence strongly suggested the female had been a victim of a homicide and that her remains had been submerged intentionally.  Based on certain factors, it is possible the remains had been submerged in the river for a long period of time.

There have been few leads over the years, and to date, the victim is still unidentified.
