Calaveras County allows 3 dogs and/or 4 cats without having a Kennel License or Animal Permit. Please call for details and information on how to obtain an Animal Permit or Kennel License. 

Calaveras County has a control law which states in part that the dog must be kept under the owner's control at all times either by a fence, wall, substantial chain or leash, other appropriate physical restraint, or under the immediate control of the owner. 

We administer domestic Animal Control. Predatory animals (wild) should be reported to the County Trapper at (209)754-6504 and all other wild animal problems to the Department of Fish and Game. 

Dog licenses may be obtained by mail or in person. They are sold for a one year period from the month purchased.
